Course Description
This Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders course has been drawn up in conjunction with experts - FASawareUK.
Many clinicians, teachers and most families, have limited clinical expertise in this relatively un-publicised syndrome. The course will therefore be beneficial to professionals and families alike and will help them to develop increased understanding of the issues and the possible responses and interventions.
The course covers the clinical issues involved in alcohol use during pregnancy, together with the clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes. It then looks at the neuropathology of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), including psychopathy and cognitive functioning. Finally, it will examine interventions, including prevention and rehabilitation approaches.

You will be provided with comprehensive materials designed to provide you with everything required to complete your course of study. Assessment
When you have the completed the programme, your allocated personal tutor will be required to verify that you have worked through all parts of the workbook and completed all of the activities and self-assessments successfully.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 3 NCFE certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.
NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
