Course Description

This course will help staff to improve the lives of people who display challenging behaviour as it is concerned with how staff can support service users to replace the behaviours with positive actions.

This course supports care workers by identifying what they can and cannot do, gives advice as to how they can remain safe, keep service users safe and act within organisational, local and national procedures. This course will appeal to staff from a variety of social care settings. Staff will be supporting adults who display behaviours considered to challenge, in settings ranging from residential care, respite care, day services, educational provision and the voluntary sector.

This course will appeal to staff from a variety of social care settings. Staff will be supporting adults who display behaviours considered to challenge, in settings ranging from residential care, respite care, day services, educational provision and the voluntary sector.

The programme is at Level 2, the equivalent of GCSE or ‘O’ Level. This programme is divided into 10 modules, each covering a different aspect of the challenging behaviour in the elderly.

There is an activities booklet containing the activities you need to complete successfully to pass the course. These are marked by a tutor, who will give you written feedback on your assessments and also give you support and guidance.

Each module of the Challenging Behaviour (Elderly) programme begins within an introduction, and states the learning outcomes for the module. Learning outcomes are statements explaining what you will understand or be able to do by the time you have finished studying each module. You will see that the assessment questions are closely linked to the learning outcomes. You can check whether you have met the each learning outcome by successfully completing the associated assessment questions.

Previous Knowledge

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about Challenging Behaviour (Elderly) and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

Assessment

Completing a series of tutor marked assignments and a short multiple choice exam will lead you to the highly acclaimed Level 2 Certificate in Challenging Behaviour (Elderly).
