Course Description

This programme is suitable for any individual currently working in the care sector and is also suitable for those hoping to start their career in this very important industry.

This brand new RQF qualification launched on 1st January 2018 replaces the old Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care. The new Diploma aims to develop the knowledge, skills and competence of learners working in a wide range of roles in a health and social care setting. The purpose of the qualification is to support the carer’s role in the workplace and to enable them to progress to higher level qualifications.

The underpinning knowledge sections of the programme of study have been fully updated to include the latest Acts of Parliament, government guidelines and Codes of Practice, including:

  • Care Act (2014) and subsequent amendments
  • Fundamental Standards 2015
  • Duty of Candour

The Level 2 Diploma contains a number of different units of assessment which sit within the RQF (Regulated Qualification Framework). When you complete a unit successfully, you will gain a certain number of credits.

This qualification is made up of learning outcomes, and within these outcomes, you will need to have confirmed your knowledge and demonstrate your practical experience.

Please Note: a work placement of at least 50 hours is required to complete this qualification.

As part of this work placement you must first ensure that a member of staff with occupational competence is able to provide supervision and sign the witness testimonies, to prove you have achieved the work-based learning outcomes of this course.

For many, distance learning is a popular method of study. This means learners can study at a time and pace to suit the individual. This is ideal for students who would like to fit gaining an education into their busy lifestyle.
