Course Description

A successful business is one that effectively and efficiently manages its resources, to provide a service or product that exceeds the expectations of its customers. Its resources are materials, equipment, facilities and human. Employees are by far the most important resource of the business. From the boardroom to the shop floor, a successful business relies on the experience, skill, expertise and ingenuity of all of its employees. Functional heads or managers are responsible for the effective day to day management and use of these human resources, but it is the Human Resources (HR) Department that is required to acquire, support, develop and dispense with these resources in accordance with business needs, in an effective and considerate manner, which satisfies the prevailing statutory requirements.

The actual structure and day to day duties performed by the HR department will depend on the size and structure of individual organisations. In large organisations there is usually a dedicated department of people performing the HR duties, whilst in other small organisations the duties might be performed by an individual working part time, who is combining these duties with a number of others. In addition, the HR duties and responsibilities themselves will vary between organisations, and for instance in some, may include the payroll function, whilst in others this function is the responsibility of the Accounts department.

In this Human Resources course we will be looking at the range of work most usually performed by the Human Resources department, and in particular the knowledge and skills that you will require as Human Resource Personnel, working under whatever circumstances, to fulfil this demanding yet rewarding role.

The Human Resources course consists of six modules, each of which relate to a particular aspect that is important and relevant to the work of the HR Personnel. The modules are as follows: Recruitment, Selection and Induction of Staff Producing and Maintaining Personnel Records Staff Management and Relations Staff Support and Development Disciplinaries, Grievances and Disputes Staff Terminations. You must complete all of these modules.

    Increased Confidence

I have enjoyed every minute of this course. It was very clear and presented in a way that is easily understandable. I was able to complete it, in my own time, which has been brilliant for me as I work full time and have a family and home to support. In completing this course I have gained a promotion at work, which has resulted in a pay rise, and this has been greatly received and has resulted in me having some much needed home improvement. I would highly recommend this course to anyone, who was looking at taking a role in HR, as this has made me feel more confident in my role. My tutor has been really helpful with any queries that I have had.
The only thing I picked up on whilst doing the course, was that in one part of the course, I think in Module 1, the grammar either didn't make sense, the way it was written or the wrong words were used. For example them was written as that. However this was only a minor thing. I would be interested in more courses with NCC in the future, but for now, thank you for everything.

    Enjoyable and straight forward

I thoroughly enjoyed my course. I found Sally Swift to be very helpful and responsive. She would always respond very quickly to my emails regarding the submission of work or queries. These fast and helpful replies allowed me to progress with my work. I was also very pleased with the quick response and the turn around time from submitting my work to receiving the mark/feedback sheet from Maria Richards. I found that my work was marked and feedback to be me within 2-3 days of submission. All round I found my course to be enjoyable and straight forward. I never felt frustrated or held up because I was waiting for answers of feedback. This meant I was able to work through my course quickly and hassle free.

    Layout could be improved

The only criticism I have is sometimes the online forms were challenging to complete due to the layout and formatting.
    By on 23 December 2014
    Dear Wendy McKay
We are currently working on a new layout for our online system, users are also able to request PDF versions of the course. Completion of the the forms are via word, notepad or any other format that you as a learner decide.

    Would definitely recommend NCC

I found the HR Diploma Level 3 online course to be very educational and an excellent foundation in respect of current day company human resources and I absolutely recommend NCC to all those seriously considering taking a recognised diploma and/or degree qualification. My study has made me realise just how much the various pertaining laws have changed to meet the legal requirements necessary to protect job seekers, employers and their potential and established employees.
