Course Description

This programme is suitable for any individual currently working as a care provider or even those hoping to start a career in the care sector. Recent developments in the level of basic training within the care industry have shown employees in a negative light, this course gives a basic foundation of knowledge in terms of overall understanding of the subject.

Health and social care relates to a wide range of service users who different levels and types of care. Understanding the specific role the carer must undertake is important, this course explores both the mental and physical support of service users.

Students can expect to learn more about the role of the health and social care worker, the key principles of safeguarding and protecting in health and social care, the causes and spread of infection, the duty of care in health and social care settings, and much more!

The Level 2 diploma is made up of a number of different units of assessment which sit within the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework).  When you complete a unit successfully, you will gain a certain number of credits.  A credit is based on how long an average learner would take to complete a unit, and one credit is roughly equal to 10 hours of learning.

 This qualification is made up of learning outcomes, and within these outcomes, you will need to have knowledge and practical experience.

Please Note: a work placement of at least 50 hours is required to complete this option.
As part of this work placement you must first ensure that a member of staff with occupational competence is able to provide supervision and sign the witness testimonies, to prove you have achieved the work based learning outcomes of this course. 

For many, distance learning is a popular method of study. This means learners can study at a time and pace to suit the individual. This is ideal for students who would like to fit gaining an education into their busy lifestyle.

This learning programme has been developed to enable those working, or hoping to work, in the health and social care sector to acquire and develop a level of understanding and skills that will help them to do this effectively.
