Family support workers are those who help families experiencing difficulties and aim to provide emotional support and help as required. Families may need support to overcome problems associated with issues such as; drug and alcohol addiction, financial difficulties and child behavioural problems.

This Diploma course is ideal for those looking to gain an insight into the range of issues that families might face and how they can help provide effective support to overcome these barriers.

The course aims to equip learners with knowledge in relation to:

  • The role of the family support worker
  • The legislative context within which family support workers operate
  • The personal and interpersonal skills required of a family support worker
  • Strategies to help improve home management and parenting skills.

Coverage of these areas will aid understanding and help increase the learner’s confidence to facilitate positive outcomes for families and pursue this rewarding career further.

The family support worker course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about the roles available within the social care sector. You have the freedom to start the Family Support Worker Diploma at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration, with full tutor support.

Students will be assessed on their knowledge through a mix of questions which require a range of responses from the learner. This will include descriptive answers or the completion of practical activities.
