Course Description

The aim of this course is to provide knowledge and understanding of the good practices involved in running a Childcare business. Those wishing to become a childcare practitioner in the United Kingdom have to adhere to precise standards which are highly regulated. Despite this, childcare is an extremely popular career choice, so those wishing to run their own Childcare business must take a lot of care when starting out.

Care must be taken to ensure that the business is properly registered, that all current requirements and standards are followed, and that their financial plan for the business is achievable and logical. The course covers the planning that must be undertaken to understand what is required from childcare businesses in different areas, how to advertise and launch a childcare business, how to ensure that a childcare business adheres to the strict regulations and how to keep good financial records.

Modules

Module 1 – Researching the Market
Module 2 – Setting Up Your Business
Module 3 – The Registration Process
Module 4 – Launching Your Business
Module 5 – Health, Safety & Hygiene
Module 6 – Toys and Equipment
Module 7 – Customer Service and Parental Involvement
Module 8 – Financial Matters

Previous Knowledge

The good news is that there is no previous knowledge required to complete this course. Learners may also wish to consider a Business Start Up course, you can find NCC’s here.

Assessment

This programme is fully assessed via Tutor Marked Assignments. Upon completion of each module the learner will be required to complete a series of tasks, requiring essay style answers, which are sent to the tutor for marking.

Upon completion of all the course assignments the work is then subject to internal and external moderation to ensure consistency, fairness and that all standards have been properly applied and met.

Awarding Organisation

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme.

The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The unit summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.

To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of difficulty involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course has been designed by Kendal Publishing to meet specific learners’ or employers’ requirements.

ABC Awards’ endorsement involves a robust and rigorous quality audit by external inspectors to ensure quality is consistently met. A regular review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

Our student support team are also available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course.
