Nursery Nurse Diploma overview

Working with children means you must have common sense as well as understanding the need for professionalism and good practice in everything that you do.

This level 3 Nursery Nurse course enables you to strengthen and develop both your knowledge and understanding of current childcare practice.

Completing nursery nurse courses from home allows you the time to work through the five modules at your own pace and in your own time. The modules concentrate of several key areas that will improve your practice;

  • Child development – the course covers child development from 0 to 8 years of age. The module looks at both individual developmental needs and those of special needs children too.
  • Health and safety – there is always a balance between allowing children to explore and satisfy their physical needs, but keeping them safe. This module examines this balance and your role in it.
  • Learning through play – play is a key developmental aid for children. Encouraging children to play different games appropriate to their age is an important aspect of being a nursery nurse.
  • Safeguarding – the role of nursery workers and early years' educators in recognising signs of abuse and neglect is key in getting the help that a child needs. As a practitioner, you will also be expected to act in a way that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of a child.
  • Legal responsibilities – there are many responsibilities when it comes to looking after children. No Diploma in Nursery Nursing would be complete without examining these legal responsibilities.
