NCC Home Learning have shown yet again their commitment to the employment of young people by gaining Youth Friendly Status from Youth Employment UK. NCC see the value that young members of a business team can add, and the importance of ensuring this generation of youngsters are given the opportunity to flourish. NCC currently employ a team of 4 apprentices within the company and have had success in the past, with 5 previous apprentices moving into full time employment with the wider business.

Managing Director of NCC Home Learning, Tony Smith, shares a belief with Youth Employment UK, that young people have talent in abundance. The future of our industries rests on the shoulders of a generation that are losing faith in the UK job market at a worryingly early age. Over recent months there has been a prominent focus on the worrying amount of young people not currently in training or employment. Many politicians are voicing their fears over the possibility of a “lost generation” who will be so lacking in employability skills, their ability to gain secure employment will be hindered.
Youth Employment UK aim to change the way in which younger members of society see employment, with the introduction of their Youth Friendly Badge. This recognises a business’s commitment to young people in the UK and is a public demonstration of your pledge to be a “Youth Friendly” business. The not for profit organisation aim to reach a number of goals to boost employment opportunities including increasing support from UK employers and reducing legislation that creates barriers for employers to work with young people.
The development of this scheme can only be positive, and NCC are delighted to be the proud owners of a bronze badge from Youth Employment UK. More businesses need to pledge their commitment to the future and support this fantastic initiative.
