The National Television Awards will be held at the O2 Arena tonight and will be broadcast on ITV1 from 7:30pm.
The star studded awards will be attended by some of the biggest names in TV and there are some prestigious awards up for grabs. Doctor Who and Sherlock will lock horns and compete in the best drama category, with both of the shows main men, Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch also up for best male actor.
The much anticipated serial drama category will see the countries favourite soaps go against each other. Coronation Street will be hoping to retain their crown as winners, but with excellent story lines in Emmerdale and Eastenders this year the competition seems to be wide open.
Situational comedy winner from 2012, Outnumbered, has not produced a new series in 2013 and so this opens the category up for the likes of fan favourites Mrs Brown’s Boys and Benidorm.
Best newcomer is generally a close affair, with the past winners destined for future fame. The stand out nomination this year has to be Coronation Street’s resident ‘bad girl’, Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) whose tirade of physical and mental abuse towards Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) certainly ensured she came onto the scene with a bang.
