The development of care home activities will lead to better mental health and general happiness according to a recent study.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE, aim to improve and develop the lives of service users inside care homes. A new publication relating to suggested improvements has been released, this may also be complimented by the training of individual care providers on how to plan and implement therapeutic activities.

Boredom can become a significant problem for many elderly residents, activities are essential not only for stimulation but also team working, interaction, health and fitness as well as the engagement of conversation with others around them. One care home have recently developed a partnership with a care home in the USA, and continually hold Skype sessions between the residents to discuss their differing cultures. This kind of interaction creates a positive atmosphere for everyone involved.
