Course Description

This course is aimed at learners who currently work with, or wish to work with children and/or young people in learning or teaching and who are looking to improve their knowledge in the provision of additional support for individuals with special needs.

The course covers a range of areas related to special needs and the need for additional support. The course will increase the learners understanding of legislation related to this area and also introduce suggested practice to individuals working within special needs provision.

The types of provision this course covers includes children and/or young people with speech, language and communication needs. It will also cover emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and how to work with children and/or young people who experience these issues.

Previous Knowledge

The good news is that there is no previous knowledge required to complete this course.

Assessment

This programme is fully assessed via Tutor Marked Assignments. Upon completion of each module the learner will be required to complete a series of tasks, requiring essay style answers, which are sent to the tutor for marking.

Upon completion of all the course assignments the work is then subject to internal and external moderation to ensure consistency, fairness and that all standards have been properly applied and met.

Awarding Organisation

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme.

The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The unit summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.
