The Diabetes Education through Adult Learning (DEAL) scheme which was set up by the St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust has won a prestigious national award.
At the recent Diabetes Quality in Care (QIC) awards, the DEAL programme won an award for “best initiative supporting self-care”
The scheme aims to address the needs of all those living with diabetes and has now been incorporated into routine care.
Professor Kevin Hardy who set up the deal programme along with Professor Sarah O’Brien said “Education is key to self-management of diabetes – it dispels myths and anxieties, facilitates informed choices and helps people with diabetes feel better about themselves.”
NCC Home Learning supports the DEAL programmes aim to raise awareness of diabetes through learning.
