I completed the paper based course, where I was sent all the information that I needed to complete the course. It was really important to me that I could pay a deposit and then pay in installments as I couldn't afford it all in one go. There are so many good sources of information now to help you with your research, the internet and you tube I find lots of documentaries to help you.

"In April 2010 I enrolled on a Criminal Psychology Course with NCC Home Learning. I had been away from study for nearly 6 years and I decided I would like to study something interesting and this course was something that has always interested me as why does crime occur? For example is it nature or nurture? Is it society or political interference? Does the media play a role?

At first I was a little nervous especially when I saw all the additional reading however these are there as tools to help and books can be bought off Amazon for a few pound and the internet always has good information on. I did at first not really understand the concept of referencing as this was a different level to what I had previously studied, however my tutor was always on hand and gave me advice on this and how to formulate my essays to place my own stamp upon them, which I did and I ended up getting better feedback and grew in confidence as the course progressed. I would say that from inception of the course all staff I was involved with were helpful and always on hand and the course was very well written and I enjoyed studying it so much I enrolled on a Diploma In Forensic Psychology before completing the Criminal Psychology Course (which I am now enjoying). Overall I would say to anybody considering learning this course to do it."

"I'd definitely recommend this course. It is a recognised awarding body certificate for one thing which is impressive at interviews and on your CV, and it goes into a great deal of things. There is more breadth than depth and some things are only touched on fairly lightly, but for someone like a school chaplain it is an amazing course to do. I am finding that it is complementing my youth work training and my child protection training quite well.

It is not on a par with BACP counselling qualifications and therefore doesn't make you a recognised counsellor for, say, the NHS. But the things you have to do to get BACP status these days mean that it's only really worth it for a full-time professional counsellor (450 hours of observed practice time for instance, and a qualification, and indemnity insurance, and lots of other things!) This is a good course for somebody in youth work/ teaching etc. or anyone who will have to do a bit of counseling and who wants to know which way is up!"

"I have very little time to study and read of late, so a distance learning course was ideal for me. My first choice however would have been a course where face to face interaction was possible for various reasons.
