Course Description

The Veterinary Support Assistant course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills required to work in a support role as an assistant in a veterinary practice.

The course covers a number of key areas that are involved when working in a veterinary practice and will explore the roles and responsibilities that a support assistant would have.

This course will look at specific legislation involved in veterinary practice and how this is applied within the vets. The course will also look how general workplace legislation such as COSHH regulations apply to veterinary work.

The learner will also investigate some areas of animal physiology, specifically that which applies to cats and dogs. This will help the learner to gain a better understanding of some of the issues involved in animal health.

Previous Knowledge

The good news is that there is no previous knowledge required to complete this course.

However you may wish to study this course alongside our Dog Grooming Diploma (PI181) course to increase your knowledge in this area and increase your skills.

Don’t forget, if you bundle this course with another course you will receive an £80 discount from the total!

Assessment

Your course will be assessed via tutor marked assignments. You will be require to pass an assignment at the end of all 6 modules. Once you have worked through your course materials and submitted your assignment to your tutor, you will be provided with feedback to aid you in your studies.

If you fail to pass an assignment you are able to resubmit your amended assignment, using the feedback as a guideline to where and how you need to improve your submission.

Awarding Organisation

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Module Summary (which lists the details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme.

The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The Module summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.

To this end, the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of difficulty involved in successful completion by the learner.
