Disability Awareness Day – 15th July 2012!

This awareness day is the biggest non-profit led disability exhibition in Europe!  Held annually in Walton Gardens, Warrington there are over 250 exhibitors and lots of fun activities including sports and Scuba Diving, an Arts Marqee and family entertainment.  This fun filled event attracts over 25000 people each year.

The Disability Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of the voluntary, statutory and private services available to people with disabilities enabling them to be as independent as possible.

The Awareness Day also hopes to highlight to its supporters the equipment and aides that could maintain or improve independence and provides an opportunity to show all visitors to the event what disabled people can do, in the field of Sport, Arts and Entertainment.

If you would like to learn more about Disability Awareness, take a look at NCC Home Learnings Equality and Diversity QCF Qualification.  The aim of the course is to give learners an introduction to the issues around stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination and to identify the basic rights that all people should enjoy.  The course looks at discrimination arising from a disability as well as many other types of discrimination and stereotypes.
