Course Description

The Visual Impairment Awareness course has been produced to provide information and understanding to sighted people so that they can better understand and assist visually impaired people. The knowledge gained will enable the learner to communicate in a more effective way, with the visually impaired.

With almost two million people living in the UK currently with sight loss, it is important to be aware of visual impairment in our society.

The course has been designed for anyone in a work or social capacity who has the potential to come into contact with people who are visually impaired
e.g. banks and retail staff, care workers, education and training bodies, emergency services, hospital and health centre staff, housing associations, legal services, public sector workers, support organisations, theatre and cinema staff, transport bodies and breakdown services, friends, family members and partners.

This course is aimed towards those who may come into contact with those with a visual impairment in either a work or a social environment. It is also a means for those who wish to work supporting or rehabilitating people with a visual impairment to improve their knowledge of the subject.

The course teaches students how to minimise the barriers that those with a visual impairment face in their daily lives. It covers the best terminology to use to describe those with visual impairments, strategies to aid difficulty in communication, assistive devices, rehabilitation professionals, legislation and support organisations.

Exceeded our expectations by a long way.

We at Christopher Grange would like to thank the team at NCC in helping us achieve our goal with the development and marketing of the Visual Impairment Awareness Training Course. From day one NCC have done exactly what they said they would do! NCC have delivered in the manner they said they would and have exceeded our expectations by a long way.

I would have no hesitation in recommending NCC as they have acted as the ultimate professional organisation and it has been a pleasure to work with them. Thank you for your support and helping us make it happen!

    Regards,

    Mike
