QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) is the Credit Transfer system used in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The QCF has replaced the older NQF, this means that courses that were formerly NVQs are now classified as QCF.
Each Unit on a QCF course carries credits. Credits relate to the amount of study hours required to complete the course. Upon completion of a QCF course, the credits gained can be applied towards further study.
QCF courses cover a range of areas from Health Care to Teaching and enable the learner to study in their own time and gain a recognised qualification. The QCF is regulated by Ofqual (England), DCELLS (Wales) and CCEA (Northern Ireland).
