Course Description

The Observing Assessing and Planning for Children course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge of how to observe and assess children during play and education to plan further routines for effective development.

Each childcare worker is required to be able to observe the children in their care so they are able to effectively assess the exact stage of development of each child, in order to plan for future developments.

This course enables learners to understand how important it is to observe and assess children and put into practice the skills that have been gained in a real life setting.

Previous Knowledge

The good news is that there is no previous knowledge required to complete this course.

However you may wish to have background knowledge in Child Care. NCC also provide a Child Care Diploma which would help underpin the basic principles involved when working in Child Care settings.

Assessment

You will be assessed on this course by a number of assignments that will need to be sent to your tutor for marking. Your tutor will provide you with feedback on each of these assignments in order to aid your learning. These Tutor Marked Assignments are they only work that you will be required to send to your tutor. There will also be self-assessment exercises throughout the course but these do not need to be submitted and are purely to help you with your studies.

Awarding Organisation

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Module Summary (which lists the details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme.

The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The Module summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.

To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of difficulty involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed by UK Distance Learning & Publishing to meet specific learners’ or employers’ requirements.

ABC Awards’ endorsement involves a robust and rigorous quality audit by external inspectors to ensure quality is consistently met. A regular review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

Support

You will receive full tutor support with courses for a period of 12 months. You will be able to contact your tutor via email who will be able to provide you with assistance throughout your studies and mark any work that you submit.
