{"id":442,"date":"2014-02-18T12:29:06","date_gmt":"2014-02-18T12:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/digitalnext.me\/nccblog\/?p=442"},"modified":"2020-04-14T09:21:49","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T08:21:49","slug":"care-quality-commission-criticised-commons-health-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncchomelearning.co.uk\/blog\/care-quality-commission-criticised-commons-health-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Care Quality Commission Criticised by Commons Health Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday 9th January 2013 the Health Committee will publish its Seventh report of Session 2012\u201313, 2012 accountability hearing with the Care Quality Commission (HC 592).<!--more--> The report will be available on the Committee\u2019s website <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" title=\"Parliament.uk\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/healthcom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.parliament.uk\/healthcom<\/a><\/span> on the day of publication.<\/p>\n<p>The Commons health committee have said that CQC have failed to grasp its primary role: to ensure patient safety. This shift of emphasis and focus, from quality monitoring to safeguarding, is of significance.<\/p>\n<p>LCA&#8217;s view remains that the health and social care sectors require good, competent, proportionate regulation employing a methodology that is relevant to the drive towards excellence in care and also meaningful to service users and their families as care &#8216;customers&#8217;.\u00a0 We also argue for commissioning to be subject to the same review processes as front-line care. This is the Winterbourne lesson.<\/p>\n<p>We do seem to have lots of people, in local authority and executive agency roles, inspecting and monitoring care and yet the fundamental shift towards excellence as standard cannot be &#8216;inspected in&#8217;.
