Diabetes Week takes place from 10-16 June 2012.\u00a0 Held around the UK each year, this special week is all about raising awareness of this common condition.<\/p>\n
Over 3.7 million people in the UK are living with diabetes, and there are a further 7 million people at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n
The awareness week is organised by the charity Diabetes UK which was first formed in 1954.\u00a0 Diabetes UK is now the largest diabetes charity in the UK and uses money donated to fund research into the condition and help those suffering from it.<\/p>\n
Apart from raising awareness of this condition, the aim of the week is to raise money to expand the charity\u2019s care line, which provides practical information and emotional support to anyone affected by diabetes.\u00a0 During Diabetes Week 2012, events will be held across the country to raise these funds for the charity.<\/p>\n
