The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will take a private tour of the Chelsea Flower Show today, ahead of its public opening on Tuesday 22nd May.<\/p>\n
It is thought that 157,000 visitors will flock to the 11 acre site for the five-day RHS Chelsea Flower Show.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s show, taking place 22nd-26th May, includes 14 show gardens, ranging from \u201cNew English\u201d design to trendsetting topiary.<\/p>\n
Highlights of this year\u2019s show are likely to include the 24-metre pyramid-shaped garden, designed by Diarmuid Gavin. The pyramid is constructed over eight levels of scaffolding, each of which is covered in a different theme of greenery.<\/p>\n
Visitors will be taken up to view the higher levels in lifts, with the added option of sliding back down through stainless steel tubes for those slightly braver visitors.<\/p>\n
The build-up to the five-day show had been the wettest for 100 years and gardeners have been having to pump puddles out of exhibits.<\/p>\n
