The Diabetes Education through Adult Learning (DEAL) scheme which was set up by the St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust has won a prestigious national award.<\/p>\n
At the recent Diabetes Quality in Care (QIC) awards, the DEAL programme won an award for \u201cbest initiative supporting self-care\u201d
\nThe scheme aims to address the needs of all those living with diabetes and has now been incorporated into routine care.<\/p>\n
Professor Kevin Hardy who set up the deal programme along with Professor Sarah O\u2019Brien said \u201cEducation is key to self-management of diabetes \u2013 it dispels myths and anxieties, facilitates informed choices and helps people with diabetes feel better about themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
