Course Description

Support Work in Schools and Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Bundle


The Support Work in Schools course is a knowledge based qualification suitable for all support staff roles in schools, including site staff, administrators etc as well as those who work directly with children and young people. It seeks to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting will need and covers areas such as safeguarding, communication and understanding the school context.

As it's a knowledge based qualification, it can be taken by learners not yet employed in a school, as well as providing initial training/induction for those new in post.

The NCFE Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools QCF course provides successful students with a qualification listed on the National Qualifications Database.

The course aims to enable learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of those involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools, and provide an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to do this effectively and in a self-directed way. It prepares learners to support the Teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as developing skills to help children and young people to develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning. It seeks to further develop professional and technical skills and knowledge, and an understanding of the importance of positive relationships within a school.

The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course aims to provide progression to the NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and also provides progression into employment. Learners may also progress to achieve HLTA status.

Please Note: A work placement of at least 50 hours is required to complete this option.

The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home.  Students receive course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email.  You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of enrolment.  In addition, students of this qualification will need to arrange and undertake a work placement of a minimum of 50 hours during their course.

The course leads to the full qualification which is 32 credits.

 

Previous Knowledge Required

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about support work in schools and supporting teaching and learning in schools and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email. Our student support team are also available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. You can be assured that unlimited support for one year is available for your home study course, so there is no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.

 

Assessment

Completing a series of tutor marked assignments will lead you to the highly acclaimed NCFE Support Work in Schools and Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools certificate.

Awarding Body

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 2 and 3 NCFE certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Level 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
