Course Description

This course will increase your general understanding of the mechanical, physical and biochemical functions of the human body. You will gain the knowledge you need to understand the body's processes more fully and will become more aware of how to maintain good health. The course is designed for non-scientific managers in healthcare organisations and also for those considering a career in sports fitness, alternative health or healthcare management.

Previous Knowledge Required

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about human physiology and health and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

  • Physiology and Homeostasis - The Blood Circulatory System, the Heart, Veins, Blood System, Excretion, Homeostasis, Skeleton and Muscles
  • Reproduction and Variation - Fertilisation, Foetal development, Genetics, Variation and Selection
  • Humans and their Environment - Micro-organisms and Health, Defence of the Body against Infection and Illness, Treating Injury and Illness, Human Populations and Ecosystems, Practical Ecology

 

Awarding Body

ASET is recognised as an awarding body by the relevant Government agencies and departments including QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) and DIUS (Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) in England and by the equivalent bodies in Wales and Northern Ireland.
