Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and Health Care

Course Description

Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and Health Care Diploma Bundle

The Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders diploma has been drawn up in conjunction with experts - FASawareUK.

The course covers the clinical issues involved in alcohol use during pregnancy, together with the clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes. It then looks at the neuropathology of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), including psychopathy and cognitive functioning. Finally, it will examine interventions, including prevention and rehabilitation approaches.

The programme aims to:

•    Provide a nationally accredited certificated programme covering a wide range of issues associated with alcohol use during pregnancy and the variety of clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes and possible interventions
•    Provide a flexible learning opportunity that is accessible to a wide range of learners
•    Provide the student with knowledge and understanding that can be applied by those who either personally, voluntary or professionally have a special interest in this field.

The Health Care Diploma has been designed to give an opportunity for those working in a Care environment to build on their skills to progress in Health and Social Care.

Working in the care sector, you have responsibilities to provide a service to your clients and to respond safely and effectively to their needs. This programme will help you to develop the skills needed to do this and achieve a qualification that recognises your achievement. This Health Care Diploma is concerned with your role, as a care worker, in identifying ways of communicating on difficult, complex and sensitive issues, in a variety of settings and situations.

You will examine and analyse methods of reflecting on and developing your practice. Updating your knowledge and taking action to enhance your practice are vital to meeting the changing needs of individuals in your care, and the demands of a rapidly advancing health care system.
