Course Description

Drugs Awareness and Counselling Diploma


The Drugs Awareness course programme is designed to be an introduction to drug use and misuse, and aims to provide the student with basic knowledge of drugs and other related substances and the health issues surrounding them.

The Drugs Awareness course covers both legal and illegal substances and looks at their effects, consequences and legislation. It also offers an introduction to drug use in society and the relevant responses and interventions.

The Drugs Awareness course intends to enhance students’ knowledge of drugs, their use and misuse, provide a basis for individuals to develop increased social awareness, assist in the support for the relevant government policy through an educational model, provide students with knowledge in relation to health issues surrounding the use and misuse of different types of drugs and other substances and provide the student with the basic drug knowledge required to progress to a higher-level qualification.

This course will benefit a range of people, including social and health care professionals, youth workers, community groups, parents/carers and volunteers. Teachers, police and prison officers and support workers in substance misuse agencies will also find the Drugs Awareness course Certificate a useful award to acquire, as well as individuals just wishing to improve personal knowledge on this subject.

This Drugs Awareness course has been mapped to the DANOS standards and can be found on the DANOS Learning Resources Database. It helps people to develop their knowledge, skills and competence in the following DANOS units:  AA1, AA3, AA4, AB2, AB5, AC1, AD1, BD3.

The Counselling course is a practical and stimulating course, ideal for individuals with no prior counselling knowledge. This Counselling course will help you develop the skills you need in order to work on a one to one basis with people in need of help, guidance and support.

This Counselling course is highly rewarding, exciting and challenging and is the perfect home study course to provide an excellent foundation of information and deeper understanding of counselling, paving the way for further study and a future career within the varying fields. The Counselling course offers deep exploration and a step by step guide to work through the whole process of counselling from the initial meeting

 

Previous Knowledge Required

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about drugs awareness and counselling and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

Assessment

Drug Awareness

Completing a series of tutor marked assignments together with a multiple-choice questionnaire will lead you to the highly acclaimed NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Drugs Awareness.

Counselling Diploma

The Counselling Diploma is assessed by completion of a series of tutor marked assignments.  When your assignments have been successfully completed, you will be awarded with the highly acclaimed Counselling Diploma Certificate.

Awarding Body

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 2 and 3 NCFE certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Levels 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
