Course Description

Develop the skills needed and prepare for a successful career in the Care Sector with the Care Skills Course - whether or not you're already working in the care industry. Maybe you are an experienced health care worker caring for clients or patients in a work environment. Alternatively, you may be new to the Industry or considering a career in Care. Whatever your background or experience, we believe that this learning programme will assist you with your personal development.

The Care Skills course will provide you with an understanding of the various skills needed to be effective in a nursing or residential home position. The course will look at nutrition, communication, hygiene and other key areas of the care and nursing profession.  You will also learn about the GSCC Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and the responsbilities of the care worker.

The Certificate in Care Skills is ideal for individuals engaged within either a nursing or residential care environment but is also ideal to gain more knowledge about this subject or use as a stepping stone for a career change.

Our aim is to provide you with the best deal available, therefore registration fee, certification fee and full tutor support is included in the course price for you.

 

Previous Knowledge Required

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about care skills and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration, with full tutor support.

 

Support

You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email.

Our student support team are also available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. You can be assured that unlimited support is available for your home study course, so there is no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.

 

Assessment

The NCFE certificate is gained by successfully completing a series of assignments together with an end of course multi-choice questionnaire.

 

Modules

  • Module 1: The values, roles and responsibilities of the care worker
  • Module 2: To support the individual through the effective use of communication
  • Module 3: Enabling clients to maintain their personal hygiene
  • Module 4: Assisting clients with their nutritional needs
  • Module 5: Aspects of pressure care
  • Module 6: Assisting clients with elimination

 

Awarding Body

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 1 NCFE certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Level 1 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
