Animal Care


As pet owners, or anyone wishing to gain employment within the animal care sector, it is imperative that the welfare needs of any animal are met. Not only do we have a moral duty to look after the animals in our care, it is a requirement by law.

Once you have completed and passed this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the main needs of an animal
  • Devise suitable feeding plans
  • Learn how to set up suitable accomodation
  • Handle animals in the correct way
  • Ensure that the health of the animal is kept to a high standard, and administer basic first aid procedures

The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. Students receive a course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail or email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.

 

Assessment

The Animal Care course assessment takes the form of a series of written assignments, which are submitted and marked by your tutor. There is no external examination required.

Awarding Body

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a level 2 NCFE Award certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3).
 
Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.
